How would you feel having a wedding party of 3,000 people?
That’s how many attended a wedding ceremony that took place last night (Jan. 25) as part of the Prince George Cougars’ Vegas-themed featured game.
Amanda Chandler and Chris Holmes proclaimed their love during the first intermission in front of friends, family and fans at the CN Centre.
“Chris and I always said when we got married, we wanted something low-key, informal, and backyard-barbecue style,” said Chandler when the event was first announced in November.
“That was the plan up until Andy [Beesley] and I obviously started planning for the Vegas night at the Cougars hockey game and we decided to go a little bigger.”
Wayne ‘Elvis’ Dobson, a licensed officiant, conducted the ceremony, while Steve ‘Elvis’ Elliot and Almost Marilyn (Kat Fullerton) acted as the best man and maid of honour respectively.
The procession included the “I do’s,” the reading of vows, the ring exchange and, of course, the first kiss as husband and wife.
The newlyweds were met with raucous applause several times at the end of the wedding, even receiving a goal horn sound after the kiss.
Cake was also distributed and shared amongst the crowd following the ceremony.
In the second intermission, Chandler and Holmes returned on the Cougars’ Fanboni for the bouquet and garter toss.
Prince George sealed the evening with a 3-1 victory over the Kamloops Blazers.
