Here are some closures and restricted hours on essential services throughout Prince George during the COVID-19 pandemic. Public gathering places have shut their doors including museums, galleries, seniors' centres, and the public library.

Here are some closures and restricted hours on essential services throughout Prince George during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public gathering places have shut their doors including museums, galleries, seniors' centres, and the public library. Restaurants with many offering take out, delivery or drive thru options.

More recent closures have taken place at these locations:

* The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George offices is closed to walk-in traffic. Only people with scheduled appointments will be allowed in the district office, which is located at 155 George St. People needing to access to regional district services are asked to call 250-960-4400, 1-800-667-1959 or email [email protected] to inquire or to schedule an appointment.

* BC SPCA has closed its shelters to the public. They will remain open for emergency surrenders and adoptions by appointment.

* Regular operations of the B.C. Supreme Court - including those at the Prince George courthouse - have been suspended until further notice as part of the effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

* Shoppers Drug Mart, the Real Canadian Superstore and Save-On Foods all say the first hour of business of each day is dedicated to seniors and those who are most vulnerable in the community. Each store offers free plastic bags and hours will be restricted to allow extra time for sanitization. 

The Real Canadian Superstore and Save-On Foods will be open each day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the first hour designated to seniors and the vulnerable.

Shoppers Drug Mart will offer seniors discounts during the first hour of opening. As opening hours vary from store to store check ahead to see when your store opens.

Home Depot, considered an essential service because of its heating and plumbing departments, is changing its hours of operation, closing at 6 p.m. starting on Saturday.

* All in-school classes in the province are suspended until further notice at the direction of Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer.

* The City of Prince George is encouraging residents to take advantage of several remote-paying options for utility bills and property taxes. Residents can pay online through their bank or credit union, use a credit card to pay via the PayTM mobile app, mail a cheque to city hall or sign up for a pre-authorized payment plan. * The BC Northern Real Estate Board is urging real estate agents to suspend all open houses in answer to concerns over COVID-19 exposure and spread.

* The St. Vincent De Paul is now operating on a takeout-only basis.

* Northern Health is restricting eligibility for passengers using the Northern Health Connections bus service. For more information, go online to https://nhconnections.ca/.

* BC Lottery Corporation has closed its prize payout centres temporarily in Kamloops and Vancouver.
