Where to vote for today's school board byelection in Prince George

Voters will elect two new trustees

General voting day for the SD57 by-election is Saturday June 17.

It’s time for Prince George voters to do their civic duty and select two new school trustees.

General voting for qualified electors of School District 57 (SD57) Prince George Trustee Electoral Area No.1 takes place today.

Voters can cast their ballots between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the following locations: Glenview Elementary School, (7310 Cluff Rd.) Heritage Elementary School (257 Anderson St.) Malaspina Elementary School, (7900 Malaspina Blvd) Pineview Elementary School (8515 Old Cariboo Hwy.) Van Bien Training Centre (311 Wilson Cres.).

Official byelection results will be posted Wednesday June 21 and unofficial results will be posted after the close of voting and the ballots are counted Saturday night.

The election officer anticipates having unofficial results posted on or about 11 p.m. on the school district’s homepage at  www.sd57.bc.ca.

There are nine candidates running for the two positions. During the June 8 public forum, Josh Silva announced he will no longer be seeking office; however, his name will still appear on the ballot as mail-in-ballots had already been received when advance voting began on June 7.

The candidates are: Lucy Duncan, Don FitzpatrickSarah HollandDavid LowMilton MahoneyDusty MartinShar McCroryHeather McKenzie, and Bill Price.

Mahoney served as a trustee from January to October last year, after winning in a seat in a byelection and then losing it in the Oct. 15 general election.

McCrory ran unsuccessfully in the 2022 election.

The last SD57 by-election was held in January 2022 and had a voter turnout of just 1,137.
