A number of First Nations items that were stolen 20 years ago have been quietly returned to the Tomahawk restaurant in North Vancouver.

On May 11 North Vancouver RCMP were contacted by restaurant staff after six items mysteriously appeared on the front desk.

Police, viewing video surveillance, saw an unknown male making two trips in and out of the restaurant, placing items on the desk with each trip, Cpl. Marlene Morton media relations officer, said in a news release.

The man who returned the items is described as a First Nations male, about five-feet-six-inches tall, weighing roughly 160 lbs. He is 30 to 35 years old, with a medium build and long wavy hair.

"This individual returned six out of 20 items that were stolen," said Morton, adding the items dropped off were a hide-covered drum, a throwing stick, a hand-carved lamp, a Shaman idol, a framed Damien George print and an oil painting of Dominic Charles mounted in a hand carved frame.

"We would like to speak to the person who brought these items back and ultimately find the rest of the stolen goods."
