The Sabina Lake wildfire, seen in a photo posted to X by the BC Wildfire Service, forced the evacuation of people in nearby communities.

People living near two wildfires west of Prince George can return to their homes more than a week after they were told to leave in the face of major wildfires.

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, on a recommendation from the BC Wildfire Service, has rescinded an evacuation order issued Sept. 6 as the Mount Wells fire spread. That order affected 88 addresses.

Another evacuation involved the Sabina Lake fire - smoke from which lingered over Prince George on the weekend of Sept. 7-8 - and involved 39 addresses. That order has also been lifted.
