WIldfire prompts evacuation near McBride

This is the area under evacuation order near McBride.

A wildland interface fire four kilometres east of McBride in the Teare Creek area has prompted the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George to issue an evacuation order.

The order is in effect for two properties along Laing Road and those in the affected areas must leave immediately. There's also an evacuation alert in place for eight properties in the Teare Creek area.

A reception area has been established in the Robson Valley Community Centre in McBride.

Residents under an evacuation order are advised to take the following steps:

• Secure alternate accommodations (friends and family);

• Arrange a place to meet family or co-workers;

• Make sure your vehicle is fueled up;;

• Wear and pack season appropriate clothing;

• Take purse, cash and credit cards;

• Make travel arrangements;

• Take medications, eye glasses, documents, photos and identification;

• Bring blankets, sleeping bags, books and games;

• Make arrangements for pets and take leashes, crates, pet food;

• Collect photos and mementos that can't be replaced;

• Listen to local news and refer to the RDFFG website www.rdffg.bc.ca and Facebook page for updates.
