Prince George RCMP have seized several firearms after following up on tips from a “sharp-eyed” witnesses.

Police say on Friday Sept. 17, they received a call from a person who could hear a loud argument going on and believed they saw something suspicious being loaded into the trunk of a nearby car.

Through their investigation, officers located and seized several illegal firearms. Police arrested two of the persons involved for being in violation of their court-ordered conditions not to be in possession of firearms and a third person for unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Investigators released all three men with future court dates.

Then a few days later on Monday, Sept. 20 police received a report of two people near a shopping centre with what looked like stolen merchandise.

Officers arrived at the location and located two men matching the descriptions provided.

Police located a firearm on 26-year-old Jordan Louis Bear, who is a Quesnel resident, and then arrested him for breaching his court-ordered conditions, which were not to be in possession of firearms.

Police say the Prosecution Service approved the following charges against Bear:

  • Obstructing a Police Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Bear will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

“We want to thank the people of Prince George for calling the police when they notice suspicious activity happening around them, and we want to encourage people to continue calling in these types of occurrences. Police were able to get several firearms off the streets because individuals took the time to alert us to their observations,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
