WorkSafeBC tripled the fine levied against a Quesnel-based roofing company for a repeat violation of the agency's fall protection regulations.
North Central Roofing Ltd. was fined $7,500 in October 2015, three times the amount it received in July 2015 for a similar infraction.
The most recent penalty was issued after WorkSafeBC officers saw one of three workers on the roof of a one-level house without personal fall protection, exposing himself to a fall of 3.7 to 4 metres (12 to 13 feet.).
When the officers returned to the job site 90 minutes later, they saw two of the workers - including a representative of North Central Roofing - on the roof without fall protection. Also, the officers saw one worker carrying a bundle of shingles up a ladder onto the roof, and another worker using a nail gun without safety eyewear.
North Central is appealing the most recent fine.
