YXS adds new firetruck to its emergency response capabilities

The Rosenbauer Panther has been in service since mid-June

Prince George Airport Authority has added an additional tool to its aircraft rescue and firefighting force.

It’s called a Rosenbauer Panther and it’s a brute.

The new YXS firetruck is wide enough to allow three adults to comfortably sit side by side in the cab and it packs a wallop with its firefighting capabilities.

The holding tank contains just about 12,000 litres (3,170 gallons) of water and is connected to the front bumper and rooftop turrets. Each turret can pump roughly 600 gallons per minute, enough to fill 567 four-litre milk jugs.

The roll-up compartments on the side of the truck provide storage for the hoses and tools emergency crews would require.

The Panther has been in service since mid-June, part of three-truck fleet at YXS.
