Kenny Lally used ring smarts to earn an international victory Saturday night in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Lally, a member of Prince George's Inner City Boxing Club, beat Daniel Ramos of the Puerto Rican national B team 3-0 in a defensive-style bout. The fight was part of a Canada-versus-Puerto Rico card, which was a tune-up for this week's Elite Continental Championships in Quito, Ecuador.
"The scoring at big international events is tight," the 20-year-old Lally said via e-mail. "A big score might be five or six points. My style is made for this so my goal was to deny him any points."
