Prince George has three new provincial champions in short track speed skating.

Tim Hempsall, Kadeja White and Ross Knudson all won gold medals in their categories at the Work Safe B.C. short track championships, which took place in Dawson Creek on the weekend.

Hempsall, White and Knudson train with the Prince George Blizzard speed skating club. The club itself had a shining weekend at provincials, as 11 of the 18 members came back home with medals. Silvers went to Carolina Hiller, Keanan St. Rose, Julia Kreitz and Duane Swan, while Callie Swan, Tommy Kreitz, Morgan Aucoin and Peter Kemp earned bronze rewards.

All of the above skaters are now eligible to compete at the short track nationals, March 26-28 in Campbellton, N.B. So far, Hempsall and White have decided to attend.

Other P.G. skaters at the provincial meet were Nicholas Hiller, Erika Kreitz, Bobby Kreitz, Rylan Gaudet, Lucas Hiller, Carley Budac and Morgan Swan.

In total, 85 skaters gathered in Dawson Creek for the championships.
