Bowlers roll into Kamloops

Local youth bowlers will take aim at provincial championships today in Kamloops. At the YBC five-pin provincials, Prince George will be represented by three singles players and three teams.

Local youth bowlers will take aim at provincial championships today in Kamloops.

At the YBC five-pin provincials, Prince George will be represented by three singles players and three teams.

In singles competition, Jeff Strong of Black Diamond Lanes, Paige Meise of Nechako Lanes and Darci Shelke of Black Diamond will be knocking down pins. Strong and Meise are rolling in the junior boys and junior girls categories respectively, while Shelke is in the senior girls division.

In the team event, Black Diamond bowlers will compete in the bantam girls, junior girls and senior girls age groups. The bantam team -- coached by Chito Tecson -- is formed by Jesslyn Arnett, Kiara Browne, Jocelyn Meise and Morgan Poitras. The junior players are Lezzyl Aquino, Jenny Browne, Tiana Tecson and Kassidy Johnson. Their coach is Leo Durau. Senior team members are Deanna Montgomery, Natasha Oelke, Danielle Chretien and Jessica Hawley. The foursome is guided by Al Smith.

Bantams are 10-and-under, juniors are 11-14 and seniors are 15-19.
