Burn Fund riders show their mettle

Hills never look too imposing from behind a steering wheel and a windshield. Those same hills, experienced from the seat of a bike, can turn into stretches of paved pain.

Those same hills, experienced from the seat of a bike, can turn into stretches of paved pain.

Six Prince George cyclists made the above discovery on the weekend when they pedaled to Dragon Lake and back in a cash-raising ride for the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund.

Five of the participants -- Kelly Henderson, Paul Knudsgaard, Denver McCullough, Jared Steiger and Aaron Brouwer -- are local fire fighters. The fifth man was local resident Neil Henderson, the father of Kelly. They rode to Dragon Lake, southeast of Quesnel, on Saturday and made the return trip on Sunday. In total, they covered about 274 kilometres in 11 1/2 hours.
