The Cedars Christian School Eagles didn't quite achieve the altitude they wanted, but they did manage a sixth-place finish at the senior boys volleyball single-A provincial championship tournament.

The 12-team event unfolded Thursday through Saturday at Duncan Christian School.

In their last match, for fifth and sixth place, the Eagles lost 15-25, 25-21, 15-8 to Houston Christian.

Cedars finished the tournament with a match record of 5-3. The Eagles picked up victories against Kelowna (25-23, 25-22), Vernon (25-19, 25-16), Houston Christian (19-25, 25-15, 15-13) to start provincials and then lost to Credo Christian (25-18, 25-19). Cedars then topped Chemainus 25-13, 25-9 before a playoff loss to Immaculata, 25-19, 25-17, 27-25. After that disappointing setback, the Eagles rebounded with a 16-25, 25-14, 15-12 win against Richmond, which set up the last match with Houston Christian.

In the provincial final, Credo beat Kelowna 21-25, 25-15, 25-7, 25-18.

Mitchell Vaale of Cedars was chosen as a second-team tournament all-star.
