The Cedars Christian School Eagles left their opponents miles beneath them.
The local senior girls basketball team won three games in convincing fashion during a weekend tournament in Fort St. James. The Eagles beat Bulkley Valley Christian 59-37, dumped Correlieu 62-28 and defeated Fort St. James 53-17.
Against Smithers-based Bulkley Valley, Karly Goertzen paced Cedars with 22 points. Against Correlieu, from Quesnel, Kayla Gordon scored a team-high 18 points for the Eagles. And, against Fort St. James, Janene Giesbrecht hit for 11.
In the post-tournament awards ceremony, Goertzen got the nod as MVP and Gordon was picked as an all-star.
The Cedars boys also competed in the tournament and finished with a 1-2 record in their division. Graeme Mueller made the all-star team.
