The Prince George Cougars 16-year-old goalie Joshua Ravensbergen has been named WHL goatender of the week.

After a shutout performance Sunday in Regina, Prince George Cougars rookie Josh Ravenbergen has been named the WHL’s goaltender of the week.

Ravensbergen made 23 saves to preserve a 4-0 win over the Regina Pats.

It was the second shutout this season for the 16-year-old from North Vancouver, who also blanked the Tri-City Americans in the opening game of the season, Sept. 22 at CN Centre.

Appearing in five games, the six-foot-four, 180-pound Ravensbergen now sports a 3-1-0-0 record with a 2.48 goals-against average and .905 save percentage.

The win over the Pats improved the Cougars’ record to a league-leading 10-4-0-0 as they continue their East Division tour today against the Wheat Kings in Brandon (5 p.m. PT).

Cougars forward Zac Funk, who had three assists Sunday, is leading the WHL scoring race with 29 points, one ahead of his linemate, rookie Terik Parascak, whose 17 goals is tops in the WHL.

The Cougars also visit Saskatoon on Friday and Prince Albert on Saturday during their roadtrip.

They return to CN Centre on Friday, Nov. 10 to face the Red Deer Rebels.
