Cougars hoping to win the lottery

A lottery is being held in Calgary today and the Prince George Cougars are guaranteed to win one of the top prizes.

A lottery is being held in Calgary today and the Prince George Cougars are guaranteed to win one of the top prizes.

In the Western Hockey League bantam draft lottery, the Cats will have the best chance of six teams to secure the first-overall selection in the April 29 dispersal of 1995-born players.

Think Lotto 6/49. The Cougars, the last-place team in the league, will have six balls in the machine. The next-to-last Edmonton Oil Kings will have five, followed by the Lethbridge Hurricanes (4), Seattle Thunderbirds (3), Regina Pats (2) and Prince Albert Raiders (1). A club can move up a maximum of two positions if it wins the lottery, so the Cougars, Oil Kings and Hurricanes will each have a shot at the No. 1 pick.
