Like it or not, the harmonized sales tax is coming to B.C. on July 1.
Fans of the Prince George Cougars can beat the HST on the price of their season's tickets for 2010-11 if they pay for their tickets in full by April 30.
For adults, the cost is $475. Students and seniors will pay $315, and the cost of a child's season ticket is $135. Prices do not include the five per cent GST.
The advantage to being a season ticket holder is a $170 cost savings compared to single-game admission tickets for adults. Other benefits include guaranteed sets for all 36 home games, two free game vouchers, chances to win opening-night and game-day prizes, 10 per cent discounts at the Cougars Store, a VIP discount card, and the option to buy extra playoff tickets before they go on sale to the public.
New to season ticket holders this year are $500 car dealership gift certificates at Wood Wheaton Super Centre, P.G. Motors and Honda North; rain-check nights in which unused game tickets can be exchanged for Tuesday or Wednesday games for a $2 fee; coupons for concession items; and an invitation to a town hall meeting conducted by the Cougar coaches.
Payment plans and half-season tickets are available.
Season tickets are available at the CN ticket office or by calling 250-564-5585.
n From playoff MVP of the Saskatoon Blades to an American Hockey League playoff gig with the Worcester (Mass.) Sharks, Marek Viedensky's hockey career is on the rise.
The former Cougar centre, traded to the Blades in January, was called up by the Sharks this week for their playoff series with the Lowell Devils. Worcester lost Game 1 of the opening-round series 3-2 Wednesday night on home ice. Viedensky was not in the Sharks lineup.
The six-foot-three, 185-pound Slovakian import led the Blades in the playoffs with seven goals and three assists in 10 games, including the game-winning goal in overtime in Game 3 of a first-round series with the Red Deer Rebels. The 19-year-old was drafted last year in the seventh round by the San Jose Sharks and is expected to sign a contract soon with Sharks.
