The Prince George Cougars have signed 16-year-old forward Ethan Hamilton.

The Prince George Cougars announced Wednesday they’ve signed 2008-born forward Ethan Hamilton to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Hamilton was the Cougars fifth-round choice (103rd overall) in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

The 16-year-old from Lanigan, Sask., played last season for the Saskatoon Blazers U18s. In 40 games he collected seven goals and 19 points, followed by a 10-game postseason in which he scored twice and had one assist.

“Ethan came prepared to training camp to try and make our team,” said Bob Simmonds, the Cougars director of scouting.

“His performance at camp was very strong. His skating was strong, and he really spent a lot of time training this summer and it showed at camp. He earned this agreement, and we are happy to add him into the fold.”

The Cougars will be in Edson, Alta., this weekend to open their WHL preseason schedule against the Edmonton Oil Kings. The teams meet Saturday at 1 p.m. PT and again on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT.
