For the second consecutive week, Prince George Cougars winger Terik Parascak has been named the Western Hockey League’s rookie of the week.
The 17-year-old Lethbridge native scored four goals and had two assists in four games last week. He had two goals, including the game winner, and an assist in Wednesday’s 8-1 win over Kelowna and followed that up with a two-goal outing in the Cougars’ come-from-behind 6-4 win over the Wenatchee Wild. Parascak also drew a primary assist in a 6-3 loss to the Wild Saturday.
Picked by the Cougars in the fourth round of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, the five-foot-11, 179-pound Parascak now has 12 goals and six assists in eight games this season. His 18 points rank him second in the WHL coring race behind linemate Ondrej Becher, who has 19.
The league-leading Cougars (6-2-0-0) are back on home ice Wednesday (7 p.m.) at CN Centre where they host the Swift Current Broncos (2-3-1-0) in their only visit to Prince George this season.
