Fewster fights back

Both Prince George skips are on the verge of an early exit at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts B.C. provincial women's curling championship in Cloverdale.

Fewster brought a 2-3 record to the ice for her first draw of the day Wednesday against Kristy Lewis of Richmond and lost 9-6 to Lewis, who scored two in each of the ninth and 10th ends. In the late draw, Fewster scored a 6-5 win over Adina Tasaka of New Westminster to improve to 3-4.

Knezevic fell 8-1 to Karla Thompson of Kamloops in the early draw, then lost 6-5 to Roz Craig of Duncan. That left Knezevic's crew with a 1-5 record.

Kelley Law of New Westminster beat Jill Winters of Nelson 8-1 Wednesday night to improve to 6-0.

The two Prince George teams play each other in the next draw today at noon. In the evening draw, Fewster will play Kelly Scott of Kelowna, while Knezevic takes on Winters.

The 10-team tournament continues with two draws today and one Friday morning before playoffs begin Friday afternoon. The final is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.

The winner advances to the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Feb. 19-27 in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
