For the second year in a row, Inderbir Gill has been picked as the top men's basketball player in the B.C. Colleges Athletic Association.

Gill, a graduating guard for the UNBC Northern Timberwolves, took player of the year honours thanks to a season that saw him finish second in league scoring average and third in assists. Gill, from Spokane, Wash., scored a league-high 383 points in 18 games (21.28 per contest) and, in average points, finished behind only Vancouver Island University's Andrew Kaban (326 points in 15 games, average of 21.73 per outing). Gill also dished out 5.22 assists per game.

Gill is now guaranteed to win his third consecutive All-Canadian award and will be in the running for the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association player of the year when the CCAA holds its national championship tournament, March 17-19 in Oshawa, Ont.

Gill was also named a first-team all-star in the BCCAA.

Two other UNBC basketball players also earned BCCAA recognition. Fourth-year post player Dennis Stark made the men's second all-star team and fifth-year guard Christine Kennedy was chosen as a women's second-team all-star.

Both UNBC squads are making final preparations for the BCCAA provincials, which start Thursday in Abbotsford. The women will face the Camosun College Chargers in a Thursday quarterfinal game and the men have a bye to the Friday semifinals.
