Gymnasts strike mother lode

It was called the Gold Pan Invitational. That was fitting, because Prince George gymnasts came home with all kinds of loot. At the weekend meet in Quesnel, P.G. athletes made regular appearances on top of the medal podium.

It was called the Gold Pan Invitational. That was fitting, because Prince George gymnasts came home with all kinds of loot.

At the weekend meet in Quesnel, P.G. athletes made regular appearances on top of the medal podium. In various categories, Alia Wilson, Jerrica Steel, Jamie Malinsky, Mary-Kate Barwise, Miranda Doerksen and Kimberly Marsh placed first overall. Wilson was especially sharp, as she won gold in all of her individual events -- vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

In boys competition, P.G.'s Christopher Matthews was also unbeatable.

The club also had Gymstart athletes at the meet. They were attending their first out-of-town event and all earned gold or silvers in physical ability and skills. The Gymstart gymnasts were Macyn Unger, Rachel Massey, Vienna Wise, Kaylee Watt, Emily Macdonald, Nyah Lamarre, Dallyn Long and Kamryn Ellery.
