Michael Landsberg, a long-time Canadian television sports personality, will be the guest speaker at this year's UNBC Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast, Feb. 19 at the Northern Sport Centre.
Landsberg is host of the TSN talk show Off The Record, a staple on the network since 1997. At the breakfast, he will speak frankly about mental health, and specifically his own battle with depression. He has been an ambassador for Bell Let's Talk, an initiative focused on raising awareness and encouraging dialogue about mental health, since its launch in 2011.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Michael Landsberg, as he shares his important message at the Legacy Breakfast," said Loralyn Murdoch, UNBC's director of athletics and recreation. "Every year, this event grows before our eyes and has quickly become a hugely anticipated day in Prince George."
Previous guests at the Legacy Breakfast - a fundraiser for UNBC athletics - have been Canadian Football League legend Michael 'Pinball' Clemons (2017), NHL great Theo Fleury (2016) and women's hockey Olympic gold-medalist Hayley Wickenheiser (2015). In those three years, more than $140,000 was raised for UNBC's student-athletes. All proceeds go toward scholarships and bursaries.
Tickets for the Legacy Breakfast are $90 for an individual seat or $900 for a table of eight. Doors open at 6:45 a.m. and the breakfast begins at 7 a.m.
Registration is available through the UNBC athletics website.
For the fourth consecutive year, Canadian Tire is the presenting sponsor of the UNBC Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast.
