It’s shaping up to be a Legendary Saturday night at PGARA Speedway.

Warm and sunny weather is predicted with the high reaching 25 C and it should be a perfect night for stock car racing for the Prince George Auto Racing Association.

The Northern BC Legends Touring Car Series will be featured on the three-eights-mile oval and that added prize money will be bringing cars from all over B.C. challenging the local drivers for the victory laps.

Legends are five-eighths-scale replicas of ‘30s- and ‘40s-era Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge coupes. Powered by a 1.2-litre Yamaha motorcycle engine, they have quick acceleration, with short wheelbases and twitchy steering that makes them a handful to keep under control on a racetrack.

The Legends series stops in Prince George, Quesnel, Williams Lake and Penticton.

After two race meets, Jarett Bonn and Jason Conn are tied for the lead in the standings, each with 21 points.

Thirteen-year-old Aiden Conn of Prince George, who broke into the series last year as the youngest-ever PGARA driver, ranks fourth with eight points.

Saturday’s race meet also features the Ron’s Towing Hornets, Chieftain Auto Parts Ministocks and Canadian Tire Street Stocks.

Corbin Conn is the current leader in hornets with 137 points, Spencer Forseth leads the ministock standings with 157 and James Bednar is first in street stocks with 82.

Time trials Saturday at PGARA Speedway start at 6 p.m. and racing begins at 7.
