As members of Team Canada, Danica Ludlow and Sterling King stroked their way to podium finishes at the North American Challenge Cup on the weekend.
In the water in Santa Clara, Calif., the 13-year-old Ludlow claimed gold and silver medals, while the 14-year-old King earned a pair of bronze medals. Both athletes are members of the Prince George Barracudas swim club.
Ludlow's international gold came in the 200-metre freestyle. In that race, she touched the wall in a time of two minutes 6.68 seconds. Ludlow claimed her silver in the 400m freestyle (4:27.63).
As for King, he picked up his bronze medals in the 100m freestyle and the 200m butterfly. His times, respectively, were 56.06 seconds and 2:16.14.
Ludlow was also seventh in the 50m freestyle and eighth in the 100m freestyle. King placed seventh in the 100m butterfly, eighth in the 200m individual medley and 17th in the 200m freestyle.
Team Canada was comprised of 64 swimmers. The Canadians raced against athletes from Mexico, Southern California and the Pacific northwest.
