Moleski, Stealth beat defending NLL champs

SASKATOON -- Corey Small scored five times as the Vancouver Stealth toppled the Saskatchewan Rush 13-11 in National Lacrosse League action. Jordan Durston, Joel McCready and Rhys Duch all had a pair of goals for the Stealth (1-1).

SASKATOON -- Corey Small scored five times as the Vancouver Stealth toppled the Saskatchewan Rush 13-11 in National Lacrosse League action.

Jordan Durston, Joel McCready and Rhys Duch all had a pair of goals for the Stealth (1-1). Travis Cornwall and Logan Schuss had the others, with Eric Penney making 36 saves for the win in net Friday.

Stealth defenceman Jeff Moleski of Prince George set up Duch's power-play goal 7:30 into the first quarter for his first assist of the season. Moleski also collected four loose balls.

Chris Corbeil and Robert Church both scored hat tricks for Saskatchewan (1-1).

Zack Greer and Curtis Knight struck twice each, with Mark Matthews adding the other. Aaron Bold turned away 23 shots in the loss.

Vancouver scored three times on four power plays, with the Rush converting twice on three chances with the man advantage.

A crowd of 9,147 packed in Sasktel Centre to witness the Rush's first-ever NLL game in Saskatoon. The defending league champions moved from Edmonton after 10 years in the Alberta capital.

The Stealth returns to the Langley Events Centre on Saturday to play the Colorado Mammoth. Colorado leads the West Division with a perfect 3-0 record.
