They failed to climb the wall that stood between them and the national championship tournament.
Sarah Moxley sees herself as someone who can help push the UNBC Northern Timberwolves over the top.
Moxley, a 25-year-old forward from Sarnia, Ont., was in town on the weekend for the annual identification camp of the UNBC women's basketball team. During Saturday and Sunday court sessions at the Northern Sport Centre, she showed she's not the type of player who lets the opposition push her around at either end of the floor. Along with her physical power, she demonstrated a willingness to attack the hoop for scoring chances.
While it's true the ID camp scrimmages didn't come close to the real thing -- championship game, one second left, down by one -- Moxley gave every indication she'd be completely at ease when a victory was there for the taking.
"When you need someone to take that last shot and score, that's me for sure," she said. "Or if you need someone to be more of a passer, I can do that too. Offensively, I can find people on the court fairly well."
