He's furry, and friendly.

His giant red shades give him a mysterious look.

His name used to be Bark Kent, but now he needs a new name for his new home at the Prince George Coliseum at Spruce Kings games.

"It was [Spruce Kings general manager] Mike Hawes's idea that we have a new mascot," said Kings business and marketing manager Lu Verticchio. "It's part of adding more value to the Kings games, a better experience in a family environment."

To rename the mascot (donated by the Prince George Citizen) the Kings are holding a name the new mascot contest that's open to kids 16-and-under.

The winner will receive a season's ticket pass for the Spruce Kings 2014-15 regular season plus a $50 gift card for Boston Pizza. The home-opener is Friday, Oct. 3 when they play host to the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Once selected, the new name will appear on the back of the mascot's sweater, just like the regular players.

The Kings are also searching for volunteers to wear the mascot costume.

They must be between five-foot-nine and six-feet tall to fit into it.

The new mascot will interact with fans of all ages and make home games fun for the entire family.

Contest entries can be emailed to [email protected]. The entry deadline is Aug. 31.

Prince George opens its main camp Aug. 29 and the team will compete in the Bauer BCHL Showcase Sept. 19-21 in Chilliwack.
