Playing their first games in a new league, the Coast Inn of the North Cougars proved one thing to themselves -- they can compete.
This season, the midget Tier 1 Cougars are skating in the Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association (OMAHA). On the weekend, they played a home-ice double-header against Kamloops and picked up a pair of ties, 2-2 on Saturday and 3-3 on Sunday.
"We have evenly-matched teams," said Coast Inn head coach Chris Bond. "Actually, we played them in the semifinals of their own tournament (earlier this month) and we tied them there as well. That game went to the ninth round of the shootout and we won."
