Year 2 in the history of the Prince George Kodiaks junior football team is just around the corner.
The season opener is set for Saturday, July 29 at Masich Place Stadium and on that night the Kodiaks kick off their 10-game B.C. Football Conference schedule against the Okanagan Sun.
That will be the first of three meetings between the teams this season. The Sun will make a return visit to Prince George on Sept. 30 and the Kodiaks will visit Kelowna for a return encounter the following week on Oct. 7.
The Kodiaks play their first three games this season at home and will also host the Westshore Rebels on Aug. 12 and Kamloops Broncos on Aug. 19.
Their first road game is set for Aug. 29 in Nanaimo against the Vancouver Island Raiders.
Prince George also heads south Sept. 9 to take on the Langley Rams, with a rematch against the Rams at Masich on Sept. 16. The Kodiaks will be in Chilliwack Sept. 23 in Chilliwack against the Valley Huskers.
BCFC playoffs start on Oct. 21.
The Kodiaks went 1-9 in their inaugural 2022 season and finished last in the seven-team conference.
Jamie Boreham has replaced Keon Raymond as the Kodiaks head coach and director of football operations. Boreham was head coach of the Sun for three seasons from 2019-21 and was named BCFC coach of the year in 2021, when the took the Sun to the Canadian Bowl final.
With a roster of 60 or more players coming to play football this summer, the Kodiaks are looking for billet families to house them, from July to November. More information is available through email at [email protected].
