Prince George is B.C. Hockey's choice to host the 2012 Telus Cup national midget championship.

On Friday afternoon, the provincial organization selected Prince George's bid package over those of several other B.C. communities and sent it to Hockey Canada for consideration. For Telus Cup hosting rights, our city will be up against one from Alberta. The final decision will be made by Hockey Canada at its annual general meeting in late May.

"I am extremely excited and also aware that should we win, it's a huge amount of work," said Andy Beesley, CN Centre and community arenas manager and one of the people who did the legwork on the bid package. "But, I also know we've got a couple of excellent co-chairs and the committee we're going to put together is going to be first-class."
