The Prince George Spruce Kings are sending that defenseman Nick Bochen to the Canada West World Junior A Challenge Camp starting today (Dec.3) in Calgary.
Bochen is from North Vancouver and is in his rookie season with the Spruce Kings. He has five goals and 15 assists so far this year.
He’ll be replacing Spruce Kings defenseman Dylan Anhorn at the camp who was injured in a Saturday, Dec. 1 game against Langley, and was unable to continue playing.
“It’s certainly a bad news/good news situation,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes in a release. “It’s very unfortunate that the injury to Dylan will prevent him from attending the camp. He’s been tremendous for us this season and I know that he is very disappointed.”
“The Team Canada West coaches chose to replace Dylan in the camp with Nick Bochen," Hawes added. "Nick is an elite young player and the leading scoring rookie defenseman in our league. He and Layton will represent our team very well at the camp this week.”
Bochen will be joining the group of 44 invitees gathering in Calgary from Dec. 3-5 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park for the Team Canada West selection camp.
The players will participate in games and practices before departing for the advance of the 2018 World Junior A Challenge in Bonnyville, Alta. on Dec. 6.
