The Queensway Auto World Red Sox have claimed bragging rights in the Prince George Senior Baseball Association
They did it with a victory by the slimmest of margins defeating the Shooters Gladiators 1-0 Tuesday night at Citizen Field.
Gladiators pitcher Ryan Yorston allowed just three hits but one of them was a lead-off single by Ron Hutchinson, who got to second when he missed the force-out on Lorne Hauk's line-drive to Gladiators shortstop Doug Clark, who was charged with an error. Yorston walked the next two batters, Amanda Asay and Jeremy Kral, and with the based loaded, Paul Wilson brought Hutchinson home with a sacrifice fly to centrefield.
Kral gave up four hits and struck out eight to earn the victory for the Red Sox.
Kral got through to the seventh inning without any damage but a tense situation developed in the seventh when when Chris Allard led off with a double. But Kral struck out Devon O'Brien and forced Tyler Rohcon to hit into a double play to end the game.
The Red Sox won the best-of-five final series three games to one. They opened with a 1-0 win a week ago, lost Game 2 by an 8-5 count and won the third game 9-5.
