Shas Ti Kelly Road Secondary School student Maria Sampson has committed to the UNBC Timberwolves women's soccer team for next year.

Multisport athlete Maria Sampson won’t have far to travel once she ready to make the jump from high school to university sports.

The five-foot-four forward’s knack for scoring goals on the soccer field helped Sampson lock up her future in U SPORTS with the UNBC Timberwolves starting next year.

A former ballgirl at UNBC games, Sampson has trained the past six years with the Timberwolves Academy coached by current varsity team coaches Neil Sedgwick and Joanne Bray. She currently attends Grade 12 classes at Shas Ti Kelly Road Secondary School, where she’s also a star basketball player.

Sampson, Shas Ti Kelly Road’s choice for athlete of the year as a junior and senior, was the zone MVP last spring with her the Grizzlies basketball team.

The UNBC women (0-9-1) will be in Vancouver to face the No. 1-ranked team in Canada, the UBC Thunderbirds (9-1), Friday and Saturday.
