Kim Chadwick, Tony Tomra and Kurt Ottesen broke new ground on Saturday night. They became the first athletes in their respective sports to be inducted into the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame.
Chadwick gained entrance for her exploits in five-pin bowling, Tomra got a place in the Hall as a powerlifter and Ottesen was welcomed for his wide-ranging accomplishments in Taekwon-do. These three local sports heroes -- plus Scott Bellavance (freestyle skiing), Wayne Sponagle (boxing coach and builder) and Hans Niedermayer (soccer builder and administrator) -- were inducted during a Prince George Sports Hall of Fame banquet, held at the Kinsmen Community Complex.
