The Prince George Spruce King have beefed up their blueline for next season.
They’ve signed Vincent Croteau, a six-foot-four, 193-pound native of Carigan, Que, who now plays academy hockey at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island.
“Playing for the Spruce Kings (will be) an honour,” said Croiteau, in a team release. “From the city and fans to the coaches I can’t ask for better. I am extremely excited to wear the red, white, and blue sweater and play in Prince George next year.”
In 14 Canadian Sport School Hockey League games this season with Shawnigan Lake U18 Prep, the offensive-minded Croteau has six goals and nine assists for 15 points.
“Vincent is a young man with great character,” said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes.
“ As a player he utilizes his good size, strength, and compete level to defend well. His high hockey IQ and skill level also allows him to be effective offensively. We’re thrilled to add Vincent to our program beginning next season.”
Croteau is in his third season at Shawnigan Lake with the U18 team and racked up 15 assists in the previous two seasons combined.
The Spruce Kings (6-11-2-0, ninth in Coastal Conference) resume their BC Hockey League schedule on home ice at Kopar Memorial Arena this Saturday (6 p.m.) to face the Spruce Grove Saints (7-11-1-0, ninth in Interior Conference).
