PG native Brady McIsaac scored his fifth goal in nine games to help Alberni AValley Bulldogs to 3-2 OT win over Prince George Spruce Kings Monday at BCHL Showcase in Abbotsford.

The Prince George Spruce Kings worked overtime on Thanksgiving Monday and had to settle for a single point in the BC Hockey League standings after a 3-2 OT loss to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at the BCHL Showcase in Abbotsford.

Carl Sandstrom ended it, scoring 6:32 into overtime to give the Bulldogs (5-3-1-0, fourth in Coastal Conference) their fifth win in nine games this season.

Prince George native Brady McIsaac (son of former Spruce King defenceman Brent McIsaac) was picked as the game’s first star. The 19-year-old centre opened the scoring for Alberni Valley with the only goal of the first period.

McIsaac, who turns 20 in December, now leads Alberni Valley in scoring with five goals and seven assists for 12 points in nine games.

Grayson Badger knotted the score 2-2 for the Bulldogs, scoring 18:02 into the third period.

Ethan Montroy and Brock Cummings, with his first of the season since joining the Spruce Kings in a summer trade from the Cowichan Valley Capitals, were the goalscorers for Prince George (3-6-1-0, eighth in Coastal).

Ryder Shea made 22 saves to cinch the win, while Carter Wishart  stopped 24 of 27 shots he faced in the Prince George nets.

The Spruce Kings, who have lost three straight, will try to reverse that trend today at 4 p.m. in Abbotsford, where they face the Blackfalds Bulldogs (0-8-0-0, 11th in Interior Conference).

On Saturday, the Spruce Kings will be back at home at Kopar Memorial Arena to take on the Chilliwack Chiefs.
