The Prince George Spruce blew a two-goal lead, allowing the Langley Rivermen to score four straight goals in the second period, three of which came on power plays, and lost 6-3 Friday night in BC Hockey League action Friday in Langley.
Skogan Schrott and Cooper Williams put the Spruce Kings up 2-0 after one period but the Rivermen responded with a pair of goals from Ryan Schelling and singles from Dalton MacGillivray and Jackson Krill before the second intermission.
Brogan McNeil brought the Spruce Kings back to within a goal, scoring his sixth of the season with 12:58 gone in the third, but that’s as close as it got.
Adyn Merrick and Ilya Rogovsky, into an empty Spruce Kings’ net, capped the scoring late. McGillivray also drew two assists for a three-point night.
Bodee Weiss made 35 saves in goal for the Rivermen. Carter Wishart started in goal for the Kings and was called to the bench after Krill gave Langley the lead, 12:57 into the second period, after stopping 17 of 21 shots. Ryder Green took over the crease and made 11 saves on 13 shots.
The win left the Rivermen (9-7-3-1) in fifth place in the Coastal Conference, while Prince George (6-10-2-1) remained eighth.
The Kings play Saturday in Chilliwack against the conference-leading Chiefs (13-4-2-0).
