Blair Anderson? He has some work to do in order to survive the cut at the B.C. Amateur Golf Championship.

In the tournament, being played at the Castlegar Golf Club, Strasdin shot an opening-round score of 72 on Tuesday. His one-over-par total has him sitting in a tie for 20th place on the leaderboard.

Shaw, meanwhile, carded a 73 and is tied for 29th spot.

Things didn't go as smoothly for Anderson. He posted a score of 80 and finds himself in a tie for 116th place. Upon completion of Wednesday's round, the top 70 players (and ties) will qualify for the final two days of the event.

Strasdin, Shaw and Anderson are all from Prince George.

Strasdin, just 17 years old, displayed a soft touch on the greens and picked up five birdies (No.'s 1, 3, 10, 12 and 16).

"I was rolling the flat stick well," said Strasdin, who got into the tournament via a one-round qualifier on Sunday. That day, he shot 79.

"(Tuesday) was definitely a huge turnaround from the supplemental qualifying and it was a treat to see some results," he said.
