The American Bicycle Association event last weekend in Nanaimo attracted the top riders from Western Canada and western United States and several Supertrak BMX Club athletes proved they belonged on the podium.

Stephanie Bernier (15-year-old girls), Joey Matzelle (16-year-old cruiser), Denise Matzelle (41-45-year-old women), Cody Toneff (16-year-old novice), and Damian Georgyev (6-year-old expert) all capped the weekend with bronze-medal finishes in Sunday's races.

Georgyev, Toneff, Denise and Joey Matzelle doubled up on the medal count with third-place results in the first ABA National race in Nanaimo on Saturday. Bernier placed sixth in her class on Saturday.

In other ABA National results for Supertrak BMX Club members, Haydon Albright finished his motos just off the 15-year-old expert class podium, placing fourth Saturday and fifth on Sunday; Alyssa Goulet was sixth among 10-year-old girls both days; Keanan Scott (10-year-old intermediate) was fifth Sunday and sixth Saturday; and Lynden Chartand (11-year-old expert) was seventh on Sunday.

Supertrak will play host to the ABA National series, Aug. 13-15. For information on sponsoring the event, call Scott Parlee at 250-563-1479.
