Falon Burkitt won her first two games and lost her third at the Tim Hortons B.C. junior women's curling championship in North Vancouver.
Burkitt, from the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, defeated Carley Sandwith 6-3 on Monday afternoon and then pulled off an even bigger victory in the evening when she dumped defending champion Dailene Sivertson 10-7. Burkitt scored three points in the 10th end to secure the win.
On Tuesday afternoon, Burkitt was back on the ice for a game against Kesa Van Osch and fell 10-4. The P.G. skip was down 4-3 after four ends and then surrendered steals of two in each of the next two ends.
Burkitt played Jenn Gerow on Tuesday night. The result wasn't available at press time.
Prince George's Erik Leisinger is also in North Vancouver for the junior provincials. In the men's tournament, he started 0-3 after Monday setbacks to Josh Hozack (7-5) and Kyle Jackson (9-2) and a Tuesday loss to Stuart Merrifield (10-2). Leisinger took on Justin Nillson on Tuesday night. Again, the result wasn't available at press time.
Both Prince George rinks have two more games today. Burkitt will battle Stephanie Prinse and Corryn Brown. Leisinger, meanwhile, will take aim against Cameron DeJong and Jonathan Gardner.
Burkitt's team includes Laine Bourassa, Alia Dallas-Petersen and Stephanie Haddad. Leisinger's rinkmates are Drew Dalziel, Logan Thideman and Robert Hough.
