The UNBC Northern Timberwolves will lose their All-Canadian point guard to graduation after next season.
The replacement for Christine Kennedy could be Jenn Knibbs.
Knibbs, a 19-year-old from Saskatoon, was in Prince George Sunday and Monday to survey the lay of the land at UNBC and to practice with members of the Northern Timberwolves women's basketball team. Loralyn Murdoch, head coach of the Timberwolves, offered Knibbs a roster spot for 2010-11 and should have an answer in the next few days.
"If she was to come to UNBC, I think she'd be a nice fit," Murdoch said. "She's a point guard by trade and it will give Christine a break and possibly allow Christine to play some (minutes at shooting guard). If (Knibbs) came to UNBC, I foresee her being a five-year player and really stepping into that point guard spot -- working with Christine this year, getting some experience, and then becoming a leader as we progress."
