QMJHL roundup: Elie, Dupuis pace Cataractes to 6-4 win over Sea Dogs

ST. JOHN, N.B. — Vince Elie had two goals and an assist and Kody Dupuis chipped in with three assists as the visiting Shawinigan Cataractes defeated the Saint John Sea Dogs 6-4 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on Saturday at TD Station.

Matvei Gridin had a goal and two assists for the Cataractes (29-18-1-4), while Mathieu Plante, Louis-Philippe Fontaine and Chad Lygitsakos netted singles.

Ben Cross, Olivier Groulx, Elliot Dube and Dylan Rozzi scored for the Sea Dogs (19-32-0-0), who outshot the visitors 34-33, but trailed 3-2 after the first period and 5-3 heading into the third.

The Sea Dogs went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Cataractes went 0-for-5.

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Justin Poirier had two goals and an assist as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the visiting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 6-2.

Jules Boilard, Aleix Michaud, Evan Courtois and Louis-Charles Plourde also scored for the Drakkar (29-19-3-1), who were outshot by the visitors 38-34.

Antonin Verreault and Ty Higgins scored for the West Division-leading Huskies (28-15-3-5), who were tied 1-1 after the first period but trailed 4-2 heading into the third.

Justin Carbonneau scored for the Armada (29-17-3-1). Both teams had 30 shots on goal.

Jonathan Fauchon scored twice for the East Division-leading Oceanic (37-12-1-2), while Mathieu Cataford added a single.

Emile Guite, Emile Ricard and Maxim Masse scored for the Sagueneens (29-12-3-7), who were outshot 32-30.

SYDNEY, N.S. — Cole Burbidge scored twice and Lewis Gendron chipped in for three assists as the Cape Breton Eagles beat the visiting Sherbrooke Phoenix 5-4.

MONCTON, N.B. — Adam Fortier-Gendron's goal at 9:06 of the third period snapped a 1-1 deadlock and lifted the Moncton Wildcats to a 3-1 win over the Halifax Mooseheads.

Markus Vidicek and Maxime Cote also scored for the Maritimes Division-leading Wildcats (40-9-2-0), who outshot the visitors 51-18 but had some trouble getting pucks past Mooseheads' netminder Jacob Steinman.

William Bent scored for the Mooseheads (17-28-6-1).
