Don't be offended if a fellow bus rider gets up and moves further away in order to do their part for social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, said Jonathon Dyck, communications manager for BC Transit.
To offer less interaction BC Transit offers rear door loading where available, he added.
Riding on the BC Transit system will be free for the next 30 days, including the handyDart service.
Sanitization has been significantly increased especially in high-touch areas like stanchions, hand straps, stop buttons, doors, and seat tops, Dyck said.
"Please make sure to practice proper hand hygiene," Dyck said. "Stay home if you're sick and cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue. We're saying the same thing to our staff and our operating companies and they are repeating that to their staff as well."
BC Transit continues to adjust to the fluid situation along with other businesses and agencies in Canada and around the world, he added.
If schedules change it will be posted on bctransit.com.
