A complaint that two people were violating the province's COVID restrictions turned into a drug and firearms bust last week.

Prince George RCMP’s downtown safety unit were called to the Ramada Plaza Hotel on the morning of Wed., Jan. 13 to check for compliancy with B.C.'s protective measures order.

While searching the room for occupants, police said they came across a prohibited magazine in plain sight.

The two occupants were immediately arrested and the room searched.

"The search yielded large amounts of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine and numerous prescription pills. Police also found multiple firearms hidden throughout the room," said Prince George RCMP Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

Police also located various stolen items such as laptops, industrial tools and other electronic devices. The two people arrested were later released pending further investigation and charge approval.
