A man who threatened a security guard with a hatchet during a robbery of a store at Pine Centre Mall was sentenced Wednesday to a further 36 days in jail.
Kevin Corey Roy, 29, was issued the term on a count of uttering threats from the Feb. 2 incident. He was also sentenced to a concurrent term of six days in jail for possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and to one year probation on the counts as well as a count of theft $5,000 or under.
Roy was arrested shortly after RCMP were called to a report of a male and a female leaving the Shoppers Drug Mart with a basket full of items. Roy was alleged to have brandished the hatchet on the way out.
Roy has remained in custody since his arrest while the female was released without charge.
