Prince George RCMP released Thursday a list of 79 people with outstanding arrest warrants and are asking for the public's help to track them down.
At any given time, the detachment has 300 to 400 arrest warrants on its files, Cpl. Craig Douglass said, and usually those with outstanding warrants are featured in a Crime Stoppers ad that runs in The Citizen, complete with their photos.
"But we don't have pictures for everybody," Douglass said. "So this is the list for the 79 people that never get in the paper because we don't have a picture."
The warrants date as far back as 1979 and many are for offences allegedly committed in the 1990s and early 2000s. But there are a few from more recent dates.
"I wouldn't be surprised if people called us and said that some of these people passed away," Douglass said. "But we have these files and we're trying to tie them up.
"We just don't know where these people are and what happened to them and we want to bring them to court so that they can take care of what they're accused of."
Douglass said they lack photos for these suspects because they've never been taken into custody. "We may have very minimal information but enough that charges have been sworn," he said.
