The disappearance of a woman north of Fort St. James three years ago remains on the North District RCMP's radar.

RCMP sent out a press release this week in hopes of jogging someone's memory and help them solve the mystery of what happened to Immaculate Mary (Mackie) Basil.

Basil was last seen walking on the Leo Tanizul Forest Service Road during the mid-morning hours of June 13, 2013.

The night prior to her disappearance, she was at a house party in Tachie where Basil and two other individuals decided to head out to a local cabin.

The pickup truck the trio was traveling in became stuck in the mud and efforts to free it were unsuccessful.

They walked to the cabin where they spent some time, then made more attempts to free the truck from the mud.

Basil became frustrated and advised the others she was walking back to Tachie and left them with the truck.

She was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a red Maple Leaf on it, grey Capri (jogging) pants and white running shoes.

"From information obtained during our investigation, we learned how much Mackie loves her son so we believe that she just wouldn't have wandered off on her own," RCMP said.

Over the four days that followed her disappearance, an extensive ground search was carried out but no trace was found. And since then, Tlaz'ten First Nation members and search and rescue have carried out periodic searches, also without success.

Police have no information to support the possibility she met with foul play, "however this possibility can not be ruled out."

Anyone who may have information regarding Basil's disappearance not previously been reported to police, is asked to contact the Fort St. James RCMP at 250-996-8269 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
