March 9, 1945 - February 18, 2025
It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family of Margaret Young announce her passing on Tuesday February 18, 2025 just three weeks shy of her 80th birthday. Left to mourn are Margaret’s loving husband of 54 years Keith, her daughter Jennifer, her grand-dog Pepper, her sister Helen (Alaine), her nephew Brian, niece Caroline (Patrick) and Caroline’s three daughters Brianna, Courtney and Amber. Margaret also leaves behind many long-time friends, neighbours and co-workers with whom she shared many cherished memories and laughs with over the years.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Margaret, her brother Harry and sister-in-law Myra.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 9, 1945, Margaret was the oldest of her siblings. She immigrated first to Kitimat and then eventually settled in Prince George where she worked for School District 57 as the Senior Payroll Clerk for 20 years. Margaret enjoyed gardening, knitting, needlepoint, reading, spending time at the lake, trying her luck at the slots, cheering for the Cougars and cruising to various locations around the world. She loved nothing better than enjoying a proper cup of tea with cookies. Margaret was a kind and gentle soul who always inquired after the well-being of others.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Petterson, Dr. Ahmed, the staff at UHNBC on FMU and most importantly to the amazing nurses and care-aides at Parkside who looked after Margeret with such care and kindness over the past 10 months. We would also like to thank Jacqueline, Kolby and the rest of staff at Contours Hair Salon who ensured that Margaret looked her best after her weekly hair appointment.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Parkinson’s Society or the Prince George Hospice Society. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Margaret will be interred at the Prince George Cemetery.
